Hand spinning

Some time ago the idea of spinning my own wool had caught my attention. I even found a place which held a course. As I learned afterwards, for the first time since 2002! We started on 22. october and it was fascinating. 5 ‘girls’ hooked on wool! The first day we tried to turn unwashed, uncarded wool into a knittable thread on a hand spindle, also known as drop-down spindle. We got to take some of the wool home, to wash it and to practice with the spindle. I also found some very informative video-guides on youtube. The thread turned quickly from looking like a ‘pregnant worm’ to a more or less regular thin thread.

Before washing

Amazing how dirty the wool is

After spinning and twinning = pregnant worm

It’s really not as bad as it sounds. I just liked the expression 🙂
